Prior to moving there I had not heard of Palmdale or Lancaster. We moved to the desert in 1964 and bought a lovely home in Leona Valley. Used to commute to the San Fernando Valley on Bouquet Canyon which seemed magical at the time. Leona Valley was far from everything when youre in eighth grade and cant drive. No public transportation. A lot of no anything. Still it was magical. Sometimes I wish I could move back there today. I left permanently when I was 19, a long time ago. I have good memories from Leona Valley days and friends still there.
