Prior to practice at the Killalane road races the MCI Medical Team - TopicsExpress

Prior to practice at the Killalane road races the MCI Medical Team lead by Dr John Hinds and Dr David Menzies ran a Rapid Sequence Induction with Emergency Bilateral Thoracostomy simulation. The scenario ran was similar to many incidents the team have dealt with over the years. These skills were unheard of pre-hospital many years ago but with advancements in emergency medicine we can now deliver these skills at motorcycle racing events all over Ireland. Statistics show that riders have survived serious injuries because of these advanced skills performed trackside. We were delighted to be joined by our friends and colleagues in the Irish Red Cross, the Order of Malta, Travelling Marshals, Motorcycle Marshals Association and some Loughshinny Club members. The photos show the team working the scenario which was then followed by a questions and answers session of which provided excellent input and feedback. Simulations like this is something we are looking at running on a regular basis during next years motorcycle racing season.
