Prior to the Bob Ezrin produced Destroyer album, KISS music was simply viewed as an adjunct to the over the top stage show, their rock music pegged as cartoonish fare for kids. But Bob Ezrin added all manner of color to the palette, incorporating sound effects, the demon rock of God Of Thunder, a smash ballad Beth, and Detroit Rock City, the most complicated and emboldened KISS songs. For all the stick the band would get about Flaming Youth and Do You Love me, there were equal numbers of mumblers now admitting KISS could write with a moderated level of sophistication.
