Prior to the surgery I was told that I would have drains by my plastic surgeon. His medical assistant Amanda recommended that I get a vest that was specially made to hold the drains during recovery. Those vests, she believed were available at the boutique next door to the Breast Center at ST E. I visited the boutique and met Cathy who runs the shop. (Im not sure who owns it.) Cathy is a small woman who youre pretty sure goes to bed with a smile on her face and wakes the same way. It was actually my second meeting with Cathy. My first was when I went with my good friend to get her wig after her chemo treatments for her breast cancer. Cathy is just a wonderful person to talk to about your breast cancer. Thats because shes a breast cancer survivor herself. When you are diagnosed with breast cancer you are given a lot of printed literature. A LOT. So much that you struggle to read all of it. On a lot of the literature you will see, if you are at St. Elizabeth, that a lot of the information has been sponsored by a group called Chicks and Chucks. A group dedicated to breast cancer support. One Ms. Cathy Halloran is the founder and is the same Cathy that runs the boutique! Do yourself a favor and meet her sometime, what an awesome lady. You can find out more about the group through their website. chicksandchucks.org/
