Privacy experts: Im teaching a two-hour class in privacy in - TopicsExpress

Privacy experts: Im teaching a two-hour class in privacy in December. I have a lot of flexibility in the content and structure. Im considering structuring it as follows: 1. Offering a definition of privacy 2. Warren and Brandeiss Right to Privacy and the Constitutional origins of privacy 3. Open discussion: where/under what conditions is privacy important to you? 4. Nuremburg and The Fair Information Practice Principles 5. Consent and clinical research 6. Special cases: privilege (attorney-client, therapist-patient, clergy-parishioner) 7. Commercial privacy: the New York Times Magazine story on Target. Readings: Warren and Brandeis, the FIPPs, and the Target article. Thoughts? Am I biting off too much? Is there something else more engaging and discussion-worthy I absolutely should not skip (HIPAA, Big Data, identity theft, US versus EU conceptions)? Also, the many members of the class will have been convicted of killing people, if that changes your opinion at all.
