Pro-Mbu Elements Behind Assassinations, Kidnappings In Rivers –Apc Anayo Onukwugha — March 15, 2014 The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has alleged that sponsors of the redeployed Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, were behind the recent upsurge in assassination and kidnapping in the state, so as to justify their campaign to elongate his stay in the state. This is as the party condemned the abduction of a Port Harcourt-based journalist and on-air personality with Cool/Wazobia FM, Mr. Anthony Akatakpo, popularly known as ‘Diplomatic Akas Baba’ by yet-to-be identified gunmen, and demanded for his immediate and unconditional release. Interim chairman of APC in the state, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, in a statement yesterday, urged the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Tunde Johnson Ogunsakin, to brace up and see to the end of assassinations and kidnappings in the state. Ikanya said: “We suspect that this new wave of insecurity is being sponsored by the promoters of the redeployed controversial CP Mbu Joseph Mbu in order to justify their failed campaign for the elongation of his evil stay in Rivers on the argument that during his stay we were not witnessing any assassination or kidnapping. “We strongly condemn this upsurge in crime and wish to urge the new Commissioner of Police, CP Tunde Ogunsakin, to see this as a challenge that must be met. We have strong faith in the capability of CP Ogunsakin to rise to the occasion and restore state-wide security if his antecedents are anything to go by.”
