Probably my final post regarding Independence. Not that theyve been getting much attention anyway. . . . Basically been in a state of shock all day because I pretty much thought we were going to take control of our lives. But it didnt happen. I guess in my eyes the result proves that nobody really wants to inform themselves but would rather read a newspaper article, watch the news and believe it or listen to sound bytes etc. There was a very strong Economic case to go it alone. And I stand by that. It would of been a bumpy transitional period but in the long run the pay off would of been becoming one of the most robust and wealthy economies in Europe if not the world. Theres a dark grey sky over Westminster now and in my personal opinion once the dust has settled and the General Election campaign ramps up I predict that whatever is due to come the way of Scotland wont come our way for a while yet. I know theres a timetable etc. will they stick to it? The offerings will not be what the No side think theyre going to get. And if they do stick to the timetable well what we end up with will be questionable. The UK Deficit is far to great for Westminster to try and reshape the political landscape of the country too dramatically. If wed became Independent today then Scotlands own Deficit would of been manageable £8/9 billion a year. Not having to pay for trident or Westminster from today would of been a saving of around £4 billion . . . Talk about protecting youre kids? . . . . Now weve got one of the worlds biggest nuclear missile collections as a permanent neighbour! And we still need to fork out £127.00 a second towards debt we didnt need. . . Also whether you voted Yes or No it was invigorating to feel like the power was in your vote. . . . .well thats never going to happen again. No matter if we have 100% of people voting at the next General Election. Ive really enjoyed my time engaging with politics. Informing myself etc. only substantial powers from Westminster to Holyrood which we can have an influence on will keep me there!
