Problems of drinking water supply still dominate local issues in Uzorong although it would be addressed in the next few months. A bridge over Sherichu is still awaited. Many personal issues were raised as follows. A household in Togtsiri needs a solar light support because it is too far and expensive to be provide electricity connection. An old woman in Gunchikhar needs support with CGI sheets to roof her private temple. A man in Chiya feels he has not been adequately compensated for land taken over to construct the school over 14 years ago. A woman in Drephu is worried that an approach road to a temple construction site would affect her lands badly. An old man is frustrated that he still hasnt received compensation for damages done to his house by the earthquake a few years ago. And everyone is not happy with tax over mobile phone recharge. The Gup and Mangmi clarified what they could do and what they have done. I will have to discuss some issues with Dzongkhag administration and see how best we can respond to some concerns. Consolidation of schools is a major concern to parents. I informed the people that the Ministry of Education is thinking of making Uzorong MSS to be one of the pilot schools for the school consolidation program and that Honble Sherig Lyonpo informed me about construction of additional infrastructure before commencing this program. We need to address parents concerns of keeping young children starting PP classes in boarding schools unless we gain their confidence by providing basic and essential services and care. Spent an afternoon yesterday talking to students at Uzorong MSS.
