Procrastination is a huge problem for many people. It often occurs when we are overwhelmed by the size or volume of stuff we have to do. Rather than deal with that stuff, we have a tendency to ignore or avoid it and find anything we can to distract ourselves from the the source of the overwhelm. Of course this compounds the problem, resulting in stress, anxiety and further procrastination... until we eventually EXPLODE! With so many different ways to distract ourselves from what we should be doing these days (look at you on Facebook...), procrastination is even more challenging than ever. Here are a few tips to help when you find yourself overwhelmed... 1. Break big tasks into smaller manageable pieces and tackle them one at a time. You cant eat a whole elephant all at once! 2. Try starting with the task that you are likely to enjoy the most, complete the quickest, or do the best. A small win will help build momentum. Once something is moving, it is easier to keep it moving than it is to start in moving in the first place. 3. Remove distractions or remove yourself from the distractions. This will help maintain focus on the task at hand. 4. Use Forgetmenot to collect, process organise and review everything life throws at you.
