Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) Segment 2 Success Stories The Northern Wings Repair facility is an FAA certificated repair station and manufacturing plant that is Quality Certified to ISO9001:2008 with AS9100:2009 Rev C. All their material and aerospace parts are certified to FAA AC-56A standards as well. They are a Native American owned 8(a) certified, SBA small disadvantaged, service disabled veteran owned business that is also HUBZone certified. Northern Wings Repair Newberry, Michigan nwrepair/ Eleven years ago this company was started in a pole barn in the middle of an Upper Peninsula field with only two employees. Today, the employees work in a state-of-the art 13,000 square foot facility in the Luce County Industrial Park in Newberry, Michigan. There are also satellite sales offices in North Carolina, California and Wisconsin. Northern Wings Repair is a certified FAA repair station, licensed to repair aircraft components and return them to flying service. They are an AS9100 certified aerospace manufacturer and stocking distributor of certified material and parts for commercial and military aircraft. Nationally certified non-destructive testing of materials and parts is also done at their facility. They have completed manufacturing contracts for NASA, DLA, U.S. Park Service, Homeland Security, Boeing Aerospace, Sierra Nevada Corporation, L-3 Communications, Lockheed Martin among others. They have recently begun to manufacture numerous one off specialty parts for the next generation space vehicle that will replace the Space Shuttle. The Onaway PTAC began providing procurement assistance to Northern Wings Repair in 2005 when they were located in the pole barn. Early in that relationship, they attended a statewide PTAC sponsored Government Contracting series where, as David Goudreau, President of Northern Wings Repair, stated: It was the single most contributing factor to our success in developing our customer base within the U.S. Government and with prime contractors. During a recent NWR site visit by Col. Frank Steinbugl, Commander of the Detroit DCMA, Mr. Goudreau made it abundantly clear that the PTACs are the best business development partners we have. We used them to get started and they continue to provide key training and services to our employees as we grow.
