Product testing American style - ICON shocks are one of the hottest shock products coming out of the US and as you can see from the video they can put up with a lot buff.ly/1yAYrc2! However, most US shocks are geared up for light engined weekend warrior style SUVs so a fair bit of work needs to be done to ensure that that they are suitable for your average heavily kitted diesel engined overlanding Land Cruiser. This is where Darren McRae comes in from AutoCraft in Aus - he works with the manufacturers to develop the suspension products better suited to the heavier kitted out overlanding vehicles. Often a lot of things need to be changed to get the most out of the shocks including changing oils, valving spring rates, lengths, boots, stone shields etc to provide the best riding Land Cruisers around. From standard suspension heights through to the more popular 3 slinky kits, Darren has developed a full range of Icon shocks to fit. With the first order going through at the moment Im looking forward to doing some product testing of my own - 12 valve 80 + Allisport charge cooler + GTurbo Bad Boy, tuned exhaust, upgraded auto box, 3 slinkies, Icon adjustable shocks regeared axles and running on 35s and a mile long test track out the back of the workshops - cant wait :-)
