Prof Chirwa’s Fate Turns from Bad to Worse Things have continued going from bad to worse for the flamboyant professor of crashworthiness Clive Chirwa who remains grounded after his passport was confiscated by the state with another witness testifying against him in his corruption case. Chirwa, formerly a darling of the Patriotic Front for his role in playing up the ‘senior partner’ role of the PF in the then electoral pact with the UPND, spectacularly fell out of favour after the high flying job at Zambia Railways Limited turned sour when he was fired for allegedly committing the company to K72, 000 per month accommodation that was above his entitlement and also single sourcing his company Clavel Limited to train staff at Zambia Railways. Fallsway Apartment administration manager Suhel Bali told the Lusaka Magistrate Court that Zambia Railways paid for three months accommodation at the rate of K72, 000 per month on authority from Chirwa. And former board member Mark Chona told the court that Chirwa had also single sourced his company Clavel Limited without consulting anyone or putting up the service through a tender process. zambiareports/2014/04/25/prof-chirwas-fate-turns-bad-worse/
