However as a former resident of Gaborone Central and having studied and worked in Gaborone Central for the past 20 years I am disappointed with Dumelang Saleshandos performance as an MP of Gaborone Central. In the previous elections I voted for Mr. Saleshando, the man. I voted as an independent who didnt care about BCP but more so about the potential & youthful energy I saw in Mr. Saleshando. However, I cannot point to a single thing that I can say Saleshando has done for the constituency. I suppose he must have done some things for the constituency, but I have not heard him raise any matter relating to his constituency in parliament. I must be fair to him though, since at a national stage Mr Saleshando has been most vocal, visible and articulate. I am however wondering if he has perhaps fallen into the same trap as government ministers who in their passion to deal with national issues have neglected their constituencies. Gaborone Central is a very interesting constituency with over 20 thousand student population; it is an academic hub comprising business persons and a vibrant middle class. The constituency faces a plethora of challenges amongst these unemployment, student issues with government & their sponsorship as well as crime. As the incumbent, Mr. Saleshando must convince residents of Gaborone Central that for the past 10 years he has served the constituency exceptionally. At a national stage he deserves my greatest commendation while at a constituency level, I judge his performance as supremely dismal.
