Professional THE IDAHO STATE JOURNAL, a 18,000 circulation daily in Southeast Idaho, is looking for a NIGHT NEWS EDITOR who embraces journalisms challenges and knows what it takes to make a newspaper great. This is a key newsroom position in which you will essentially be our quarterback at night leading those who copy edit and design our pages as well as organizing our coverage of breaking stories and spot news. A strong desire to make sure were the first with the story online is also needed, as we have other daily papers and TV stations in our market. The jobs main requirements are a passion for journalism, strong work ethic and positive attitude especially when it comes to navigating the ever-changing journalism landscape of the 21st century. As our night news editor you will be immersed in the craft on a nightly basis, so a strong belief in the importance of good journalism is essential. The Journal is located in Pocatello, a town of about 55,000 located 2-3 hours driving time from Boise, Salt Lake City and Yellowstone National Park. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound in this area, as does news and lots of it. As our night news editor youll be supervising copy editors, page designers and sometimes reporters, so experience as a newsroom manager is very important. But more importantly is that you have journalism in your blood and a desire to put your heart and soul into every edition.
