Professor Laurence Krauss(an Americen Physicist) stated that the inconceivable can happen. He stated this in a debate with an Islamic scholar. Furthermore he gave an example of the inconceivable happening using quantum physics. It is as follows: Electrons can be in two places at the same time. Now when we examine such a proposition it defies logic. That is why he says it is inconceivable. For the law of logic(or the law of non contradiction)informs us that something cannot be in two places at the same time. Hence the electron cannot be here or there at the same time. In fact to suggest that it is is a logical fallacy. However my main concern is not about the proposition being wrong or illogical. For i do not believe that logic is absolute since we cannot establish our belief in uniformity. On the contrary my main concern about critically assessing his evidence. Consider these questions; 1. Do Physicists observe.one electron in two places at the same time? Or 2. Do Physicists observe two different electrons in two different places at the same time? Can you see the point? It is as follows: Observational evidence can often be perceived in two ways. For the answer to question 2 can be yes. For they cannot establish that the electron in point A is the same as the electron in Point B. Furthermore there is know reason for why it cannot be two distinct electrons. This particular incident shows us that facts may not justify the theories about the facts. For we often have to interpret the facts. The interesting thing is i am not suprised that Physicists like Lawrence believe that about electrons. For they all pressuppose that the quantum world is strange. Hence their conclusion about the electron. For as soon as we pressuppose that something is true, it is easy to see everything as instances of it. However i have shown that there is an slternation position that is consistent with logic and reality as we know it. By the way Professor Krauss was using the electron to undermine logic in the debate.
