Program administrationFoundationsHigh schoolsNon-profit organizations/associations POSITION: Site Coordinator for Community Wrap Around Grant POSITION Apply: case.edu/finadmin/humres/employment/career.html POSITION OBJECTIVE Case Western Reserve University has been selected as a Lead Agency by the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and United Way of Greater Cleveland to provide a community wrap-around strategy for students and their families at an area school. Case Western Reserve University will hire a full-time employee and that person will work at (Frances Payne) Bolton Pre-K - 8 School. Community Wrap-Around is a strategy for organizing the schools and communitys resources around student success. Its integrated focus on academics, services, supports and opportunities leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier neighborhoods. The Site Coordinator will create, strengthen and maintain the bridge between the school, parents and community-based providers in the community and surrounding neighborhoods. The Site Coordinator will facilitate and provide leadership for the collaborative process and development of a continuum of services for children, families and community members within the school neighborhood. This salaried position is funded by a one-year grant, with the possibility of continued funding beyond that period. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Work in partnership with the principal to build a leadership team and community members to support the successful implementation of the community wrap-around strategy which includes: Working with the building leadership team to connect the needs of approximately 350 students (their parents) and school with appropriate community service providers. 2. Responsible for a personal evaluation for each student, and identify individual student needs. Perform gap analysis, data collection, strategic plan for students, and assessment. 3. Identify and seek programs and services to meet the mission and goals of CMSD. 4. Facilitate strategic plans and collaborations with campus leaders of the Case Schools, programs, institutes and centers focusing on K – 12 experiences in order to leverage resources. Work with FPB School of Nursing on health, wellness, and nutrition; MSASS – Black male resiliency and social/emotional development; Undergraduate Admissions - First Year Experience and Parent Engagement* to have them identify college as a viable opportunity, and to help attract additional parent/family participation; Schubert Center for Child Studies - help the school identify best practices and trends, and share current research; School of Dentistry - “Healthy Smiles Program”; the Alumni Association - Case Graduate equals degree completion, and to expose students to varied career paths; National Youth Sports Program – college student role models and summer athletics and educational opportunities; Office of Multicultural Affairs – successful and diverse students as role models at Case, and others as the program progresses. 5. Plan, schedule and direct daily routines, activities and operations of community partner activities. 6. Develop and enhance parental involvement in the schools. 7. Build a viable network of partners to address the academic needs, social-emotional development of youth enrolled, and the identified needs of their families as outlined in the school investment plan. 8. Document the commitment and participation of partners to ensure compliance with CMSD requirements. 9. Oversee contracts developed for school-community partnerships. 10. Act as a representative of the school wrap-around strategy at school and community functions. 11. Work with data managers ensuring appropriate data is collected while maintaining all requirements under FERPA and HIPAA. NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform other duties as assigned. CONTACTS Department: Daily contact with the home department supervisor, Janice Eatman Williams Wrap Around-Strategy/ School-Based Director* regarding updates of progress and strategies for implementation of the project. University: Regular contact with many professionals across campus (see Essential Function No. 4) to develop programmatic strategies. External: Regular external community organizations regarding but not limited to: attendance support, community health and wellness agencies, youth and family counseling, culturally focused and enrichment organizations, conflict intervention/ prevention/ resolution. Regular contact with students at Bolton School, and undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to provide instructional support, mentoring and exposure to future educational and career options and opportunities. Students: Some contact with university students who serve with efforts at the school. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Not applicable. QUALIFICATIONS Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. Education/Licensing: Bachelors degree in the field of education, social services, community development or related area; Masters preferred REQUIRED SKILLS 1. Proven organizational skills, excellent communication skills and demonstrated success in building collaborations. 2. A passion for working with youth and families in an urban setting 3. Familiarity with/knowledge of helpful programs and providers in the City of Cleveland and its neighborhoods 4. Strong customer services skills to attract appropriate partners 5. Good computer skills and knowledge of widely used technology 6. Proven experience with data collection and using data for making choices that benefit, youth, families and school 7. Self-starter who is detail oriented, well-organized, possesses a collaborative nature and is very flexible WORKING CONDITIONS This individual will be required to be flexible and sometimes work extended hours, including evenings and weekends. Some travel may be required. This is a collaborative effort using the resources at Case Western Reserve University while working in the Cleveland Public School System at Bolton School.
