Progress report! Met with management today and discussed things civilly. So far, so good! They agree this is wrong and actually have been having meetings themselves about it with the aim to change! They plan on introducing what they call １分残業（ippun zangyou) or in English one minute overtime which simply put is a new system whereby even if you work a single minute of overtime, you can claim it and get paid for it. As far as back-paying for all the hours theyve made their employees work with no pay up til now and on until the new system takes effect in January next year, theres seems little we can do to get them to fork out, but they did tell my wife that until the new system comes into effect she should feel free to claim overtime for any extra work or she can just leave at the regular time and if the work shes doing is not finished, the manager himself will finish it! LOL Not a 100% satisfying result, but better than being stabbed in the face with a broken bottle dipped in shit, yeah?
