Project 2014: you guys all know about Cora Doves chromosomal deletion and her subsequent failure to thrive and slow growth. She was in newborn clothes for most of her first year. So it is a Pretty Big Deal that at age 3 1/2, she is 25 pounds, and officially on the growth chart (albeit in the 2nd %). This means shes grown out of a lot of clothes. I used to complain about my older kids growing out of clothes too quickly, until I had a baby who didnt grow. God knows just how to fix my little red wagon, I guess. These little outfits represent over three years of hard-won inches and prayed-on pounds. I loaded the bins and big bag into the back of my Suburban and just stood there a moment, savoring a moment in my happily ever after. When I carried the first bin into the crisis pregnancy center, an employee walked quickly out to meet me. Hi! Thank you for your donation! she said, and then, a little anxiously, Whats in the bin? Baby clothes...? I said, suddenly worried about if my donation was acceptable. Girl or boy? Girl? I ventured. She blew out a big, relieved breath. Oh, thank heavens! Were all out. I just called our Pasco branch to see if they had any to spare. Im so glad youre here! Well. Wow. That made my day. Wouldnt that make your day? Its still making my day right now while Im sitting here. Afterwards, Cora Dove, Duncan and I celebrated by playing at a little playground down by Batemen Island. Cora Dove specifically requested this one because its right on the Columbia River, which is the namesake of the Columbia River temple, which is Cora Doves namesake. (Her second first name and her first middle name honor the temple.) (she has kind of a complicated name.) Were now at 1900/2014 items. It just keeps getting better. They have offices in Pasco and Kennewick; the Kennewick one is near Edison and Clearwater. They would be grateful for diapers, wipes, baby clothes up to size 2T, and womens clothes, especially maternity clothes. And they are just the sweetest ladies ever.)
