Project 365 Day 73 Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children. ~ Charles R. Swindoll I looked at childrearing not only as a work of love and duty but as a profession that was fully interesting and challenging as any honorable profession in the world and one that demanded the best that I could bring to it. ~ Rose Kennedy It is not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children will do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I cant tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it myself. ~ Joyce Maynard I have been told that it takes a special person to teach children with special needs. So does being a parent. Raising you was a mixture of hard work, duty and love. Raising you was interesting, you gave me many stories to tell... Like the time you were brought home by the police in the middle of the night when you were about 12. You couldnt sleep so you thought it would be funny to ride your bike to your friends house wearing a Jason mask and you knocked on the window shining a flashlight on yourself, scaring the crap out of people. We were lucky you werent shot at. Raising you was a challenge, for reasons like the previous example. Raising you was an honorable profession for which I always tried to bring my best. I did my best to make daily deposits to your memory bank. I did my best to help you grow, only to discover that I too had grown. I tried to be mindful that as I was watching you to see what you would do with your life, you were watching me. As I finished my education, I reached for the sun... Ive been told it takes a special person to teach children with special needs. So does being a parent.
