Project Second Shadow: The Forest Dweller (Chapter 1) The sharpest remaining minds on Earth united in counsel and collaborated to envision Operation Noah’s Ark. Any and all who remained agreed that the only way to secure the survival of human beings was to utilize the power that had ravaged the planet one last time. Engineers, architects, and builders of the most accurate eye and mighty hand beat steel against steel and forged a vessel, a massive Eon-powered ship which could house the remaining populous. This Ark had three purposes, to carry humans unaffected by Eon Energy above the solidifying atmosphere, to hold unaffected plant and animal life enough to merit repopulation, and to gather a sample of the altered atmosphere. The final purpose was done with the intention of studying the construct of what used to be Earth’s protective barrier, in the hope of one day rebuilding it. Countless tears were shed and cries filled the air as families were torn apart, friends said farewell, when the ship departed. Those who had been affected by Eon Energy, with the exception of the Ten Heroes, were to remain behind; most chose this path, but some were forced. Those who were departing were to create a new life, without the influence of such fearsome plague. Countless hysterical embraces and hands pressed against glass later, the Ark ascended, and a large group of humans left the world they knew behind, never to return.
