Project: Tap Out Bullying My name is Matthew Bentley a personal trainer out of Mick Doyles Kickboxing and Fitness and a retired professional mixed martial arts fighter and the founder of Project: Tap Out Bullying. Im going to lay some quick facts out for everyone so that you can really see why I decided to start this project and why its so important for you to get involved. 2013 Statistics on Bullying: -One in three American School Children grades 6-10 have admitted to being bullied on a regular basis at school. -6 out of 10 teenagers say they witness at least one act of bullying in school once a day. -It is estimated that there are 160,000 children per day that will miss a day of school due to fearing an attack or some type of intimidation while at school. -35% of kids grades 7-12 admit to having been threatened with an act of physical violence online. -1 out of every 10 students who drop out of school do so because of repeated bullying. -75% of school shooting incidents have been linked to bullying and harassment. These statistics are staggering and as a parent frightening. It seems like every time I turn on the news I hear of another school shooting or another child so emotionally and mentally beaten down that they think that their only option is taking their own life. We need to take a stand against bullying and educate our children about how to deal with it both physically and emotionally. That is where you come in. Fighters: Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest growing sport in the world and you better believe when kids show up at these shows they are looking at you like youre Superman. Youve got their attention, now lets steer them in the right direction. I would like to attend schools and have on site demonstrations and seminars on bully awareness and prevention.
