Projetos magnificos (DIY): Help with shower knob replacement?? Asap :(, This is the stupidest and easiest thing to fix but of course nothing works out that way for me. Im replacing my shower knob (single knob, lift for water and twist for temp adjustment). Easy, right? Take it apart, buy a universal replacement that looks exactly like it, same size screw and all. I went to go replace it, and I am encountering a problem with the stem that I attach the handle to. I was provided an adapter in the kit (fits over the stem and has allen screws in the side to bear down on the bare stem, and the knob slides on over this) and I put the adapter on and assembled the rest of the knob but the adapter fails and slips off as soon as I move the new knob. I attribute the problem to the fact that the stems in the tutorials online have a sort of textured ridgy edge that the allen screws can clamp on to like step 5 in that picture. Mine is bare, here is a shot. The knob KINDA works with the adapter all messed up and just kinda floating around but I would really prefer it actually be fit right. There was no adapter when I removed the old one, is it a necessary component? Can I just wrap the end of the stem in duct tape to give the adapter something to clam on to? submitted by MsLogophile[link] [3 comments] (ift.tt/1vVAyOJ) via Reddit DIY
