Proof of God #207 Ezekiel 20 44-48 21 1-3 Interpreting the Bible Ezekiel 20: 44. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for my names sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel, says the Lord God. God has one law, as you do, He will do to you, but here God is telling them that He is not going to deal with them, “not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings,” He is going to go past that and have them killed or tortured, because of their evil. They are called after Him, by His name, Jeue (Jew), and they have been doing things that He does not want associated with His Holy name in any way, so, for His name’s sake, He is going to destroy two thirds of them, and disperse the remaining third, until they have been remade in the image of Jesus to the point where they can honor His name. 45. And the word of the Lord came to me: 46. Son of man, set your face toward the south, preach against the south, and prophesy against the forest land in the Negeb; The original meaning of the Hebrew word translated as “Negeb” which is also translated as “Negev,” which is also translated as “South,” is “around children and women.” The Negev, is a desert, there are no trees or forests in the Negev. The original meaning of the Hebrew word translated as “forests,” is “a life of happiness is created.” I think we’re going to find that this sarcasm, used to warn the elders and women of Israel that families will be as scarce as trees in the southern desert, if they do not change their ways. 47. say to the forest of the Negeb, Hear the word of the Lord: This says the Lord God, Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you and every dry tree; the blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from south to north shall be scorched by it. So God is saying that He is going to burn up all, every one of those who are living a happy life as it is now lived in Israel. The flame that He lights, will not be put out, until every one has been touched by its flame. The flame, is of course, the coming invasion of Babylon which will destroy Jerusalem and the Temple. Then the Greeks and the Syrians, which will also include the Maccabean revolt, and lastly, the Roman invasion, seven centuries of Hell. 48. And all flesh shall see that I the Lord have kindled it: it shall not be quenched. And it wasn’t, until all had been accomplished, as we know God quite frequently speaks in parables, and the people that Ezekiel is prophesying to, believe that Ezekiel is once again speaking in parables. 49. Then I said, Ah Lord God! they are saying of me, Is he not a maker of allegories? Yes Ezekiel has from time to time been speaking in parables, or acting them out, but not this time. God is through playing around, now, Ezekiel is laying down the facts, and they all came true. Ezekiel continues to speak literally in chapter 21. Ezekiel 21:1. The word of the Lord came to me: 2. Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuaries; prophesy against the land of Israel There are three Hebrew words in this verse that are translated as “toward,” and as “against.” Each word is spelled the same, with two letters, and a lot of time they are translated as “Lord,” or “God.” I am going to re-translate the verse using that meaning. 2. Son of man, set your face on God’s Jerusalem and preach in God’s sanctuary; prophesy in God’s land of Israel That works. God is basically saying, set your face against my city, my temple, and my land, with a message of how they are perverting my name, and what I am going to do about it. 3. and say to the land of Israel, Thus says the Lord: Behold, I am against you, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you both righteous and wicked. The Hebrew word again translated as “against-you” in this verse, means “God’s future to live.” Meaning that God is writing and producing what is going to happen to them over the next 700 years. There are some minor translation corrections to make to the rest of it, so that it should read: “and say to the land of Israel, This says the Lord: there will be a Godly life in your future, starting here will begin beautiful sons to live, to keep creating with a woman in life, thinking of arriving to a happy creation here, starting here in love and creating babies, thinking of remembering in the future a beautiful together life as youth, beginning creation when returning happy. Tomorrow, we will begin with verse 4. Gary Sechler With knowledge on loan from God
