Proof the Government Shutdown was planned. Back in 2009, there was a dinner meeting between top Republican party members (including Gingrich, Paul Ryan, Frank Luntz, John Boehner, etc.) to discuss Obamas recent appointment and their strategy for the following 4 years. They came to an agreement that they would unilaterally obstruct ANY legislation (even those they agreed with) that Obama tried to pass through Congress, with the idea of making Obama look like an ineffective President. On leaving the meeting, Gingrich noted to another politician: Youll remember this as the day the seeds of 2012 were sown. And for the following 4 years the number of cloture filings and filibusters skyrocketed in the Senate, more than doubling from their previous two years of obstructionism against the Democrat-controlled Congress under the Bush administration. So just imagine if for 4 years you spent every waking day as a unified party to hurt the image and effectiveness of the President ------ only to find out that your plan didnt just fail, but failed miserably?
