Prop 1 is supposed to get rid of a tax on small business. On the surface this sounds wonderful... and likely is for many small business who want to expand workforce, and or upgrade equipment. But, it is also dependent upon the State to make up for lost revenue. Somehow they are going to replace all monies lost. Plus supposedly increase spending to towns, fire departments, police departments and schools. What worries me about this is where the money is going to come from. This is not a one time replacement of money but a permanent change in the tax code. The prop itself is poorly worded... seems to do too much and worries me because I cannot see how you remove a tax and dont raise taxes if you plan on increasing your spending. I personally would and am voting no. Not because I want to see business keep an outdated tax, but I want a better, clearer worded bill and one that clearly defines what is happening. This current prop is smoke and mirrors in my opinion.
