Proper upbringing of children: Shri Shri Thakur : ‘…Right from the childhood the children need to be imparted proper “training”. The father should see to it that the son is giving “service” to his mother and the mother should make sure that the son is providing “service” to his father. Say, the son brings a tomato for the mother. The mother should say to him –“Will you not give one to your father?” Then he may say, “Oh! Yes, Father. I will certainly give one to him” and he will run to get one for his father. The mother should tell her son about the good things of his father and the father should draw his attention to the good sides of his mother. Both parents should tell their children about the great stories of their ancestors, such that they really feel spurred and inflated in “admiration” for them. At the same time they should be narrated the stories about the great heroes of the nation in a very lively manner drawing “analogy” from “history”. This will make each one of them a “Hanuman” with “Sun under their armpits”. However, we generally lead our life in such a way that implants the seeds of disrespect and “disintegration” inside the children. Tell me what can happen when the parents themselves do not have any “active” adherence to a “superior”. They may take their children to the deities and ask them to bow without showing them the way themselves. Like this so many discrepancies creep in. If the parents could correct their way of life, the intrinsic characteristics of their children will automatically start sprouting, the “character building” will become sound. If that does not happen then through disordered “urge of libido” one may even turn up to be a burglar. ‘ [Ref: Alochona Prasange, Vol.6, P133]
