Prophecy is a future event that is told before it happens. The most significant event in Bible prophecy is the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. It is an event so important that there are over 300 separate prophecies relating to it in the Word of God. David Jeremiah said that “for every biblical prophecy on the first coming of Christ, there are eight concerning his second coming.” Christians have always believed that one day Christ will return to the earth. I should also say that while Christians have always believed in the return of Christ, they have often disagreed over the details. Some believe that He will return before the Tribulation, and some believe He will return after the Tribulation. There are real Bible scholars in both camps. No matter which of those views you hold, the fact is He is coming back. That is a fundamental truth. Jesus himself declared, “I will come back” (John 14:3). 1. JESUS IS COMING PHYSICALLY Jesus is different than any other person who has ever lived. His birth was different. His life was different. His death and resurrection was different. His ascension into heaven was different, and His coming again is unique. Maybe His coming back to earth would be easier to believe if He wasn’t in a body. One cult says when Jesus arose, He came out of the grave as a wonderful spirit creature. The Bible makes it very clear that His return is physical. “By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Belief in the Second Coming has always been considered one of the fundamental truths of our faith. Christians of every denomination have agreed on this fact: Jesus Christ is coming again. No event may seem less likely to modern men and women; no event is more certain in the light of inspired Scripture. The same Jesus who was born in Bethlehem is coming again. The actual, historical figure who lived 2,000 years ago on the other side of the world is returning to the earth one more time.
