Prophets and prophetic people co-labor with God A great excerpt for David Irelands book Activating the gifts of God p. 91 I was asked for an interview by a young lady completing her masters degree in communications at Columbia University. She was working on a paper entitled, Are there modern day prophets? In the interview I asked if she had ever been prophesied to. She looked at me thoughtfully and finally said. No, I have not. I then asked her permission to give her a prophecy. After she had agreed to the request, I stood in front of her, laid my hand on her, and prophesied for about three minutes. Afterward she started shaking, being visibly moved by what she had heard. The Holy Spirit had given me clear and specific information about her life. She continued to shale for some time. Finally, she ust said, Amen! Not only did the Holy Spirit minister to her deeply through the word, but the experience helped her to understand and accept the validity of modern day prophets. Before asking her if I could prophecy, I had no previous leading, no word from the Lord, no supernatural information at all, and no voices saying, Prophecy over this woman. When you have a friendship with God, you find yourself wanting the same things He wants and, therefore, flowing naturally in the gifts. The gifts flow freely out of a camaraderie with God.
