Protecting peoples honor and reputation is one of the goals of the Islamic law. This is why backbiting and slandering are such grave sins. Its also why covering the flaws of your fellow believers is encouraged as well. Too many of us underestimate the role that each of us must pay in protecting our own honor. Consider what you post, what you click like on, whether its halal or haram content, and whether or not its necessary to let everyone else know what you are watching and what your interests are. You cant blame people for developing a negative attitude about a person who posts explicit and inappropriate content, or who seems to click like on all the things that are ordinarily haram to actually look at. Its natural to assume that this is in fact what this persons interests are. We all have flaws no doubt but the first step in trying to improve is in concealing these flaws from others. One reason is because reputation and honor is important. The other reason is, we dont want to put that kind of energy into the world. Its also unislamic to carry an attitude that you dont care about what people think of you. This attitude is alright if your talking about acceptable things like, your favorite colors, or books or non-essential things like that. But its impermissible to not mind to be seen as a blatant, outright sinner.
