Proud of Myself By Lonely Hyena 26-12-2013 Fund raising time at secondary school, A sponsored swim twenty laps around the pool, That was a mile to swim, Loving swimming I went in for this, To do my bit for our school. Many thought I would not last all the laps, So sponsored me well not just one penny a lap but often five, Some sponsored a set amount no matter how many I did. The day arrived with nice sunshine a tan could be got, The weaker swimmers went first completing their laps, I walk around the many different stalls awaiting my turn, Then I was called and in I got mam and dad standing there to watch, Round and round I went swimming all the time, Different strokes I did to keep me going, For I was not the fastest of swimmers but that did not matter, Lap nineteen just one more to go, everyone cheering me on, As I started that lap cramp set in but give up I would not, As I swam it went away, I finished the lap to a cheer, A call for a lap of honour was what I got, One more lap so proud I was at last I had done what I set out to do.
