Proud of my hubby tonight. He yelled for me to get scissors fast. - TopicsExpress

Proud of my hubby tonight. He yelled for me to get scissors fast. I asked why. He said a black snake is caught in netting and dying. I ran out and had to do almost surgical cutting to get net out of where embedded in body as well around head and in mouth. I had to have Tracy hold tail end to keep it from moving and wrapping itself more. It had wrapped itself pretty tight already and any more movement couldve killed it. I was finally able to get loose from net. His poor mouth is crooked but at least he wont die in a net. I told Tracy to take to old barn. He kind of threw it on ground and I asked why. He said it was turning its head to him. I laughed. I told him they arent aggressive and he was just moving around. I picked up and took to grassy area. I hope he makes it. My husband is a country boy, who should be used to snakes, (me raised in city) killed a snake when we moved here which made me upset. I have educated him on not just demeanor of different snakes, plus identifying, but also how important they are, especially the black snake. Not only do they keep rodents at bay but they also eat poisonous snakes. If you have a pond, lake or area with stacked wood, bricks etc you DEFINITELY want the black snakes around to keep away moccasins and copperheads. Kudos to Tracy Crooks for choosing to save. Im glad he was listening to the education and now wants to keep them in our ecosystem.
