Proud to be an American, grateful I was born and am able to live here. Realize that I am very verrrrrrry lucky. Thank you to all who serve our people... in many ways. We have work to do, please check out the Holden Foundation and weigh in. The Holden Foundation has a new series entitled “We Need To Talk”, and will feature panels of inspiring and influential individuals from a variety of fields (authors, scientists, artists, healthcare practitioners, athletes, educators, business leaders, journalists, technology innovators, philanthropists, etc.) representing a diversity of perspectives. The goal is to address critical issues of our time with courage and creativity, and to welcome the collision of perspectives with a recognition of our shared interest as citizens in the same American boat, navigating a course of unprecedented historical consequence. And in the same spirit of Walter Capps, these events will be lively, accessible to students and the public, and appropriately unconventional – at least to the degree that music, food, and laughter are essential to the process. “Many hands make light work,” he used to say to try to encourage my sisters and me during weekend chores. I may not have appreciated the concept then, but it now seems fitting in the context of securing dynamic panelists and getting this project off the ground. Walter Capps was a man of the people. So rather than ask a few hands to do heavy lifting, we are asking many hands to lend modest support and share collectively in the achievement. And it is especially meaningful that we are reaching out to those who knew my sister Lisa Capps, as her life will be honored in this program as well. So this is where I come right out and ask you if you to please click the link to our PAYPAL page and give $50, $100, $500, $1000, .. toward making this meaningful opportunity happen. All contributors will be acknowledged in promotional material by name (unless you request not to be). Your contribution will be instrumental in launching this nonpartisan, grassroots, locally-based initiative aimed at advancing the good of our community, society, and world. And your donation is tax-deductible, as the Holden Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
