Proud to have submitted this written testimony for today’s hearing, in support of S.1750/H.3211, A Referendum on a Budget for All… Chairman Carlo P. Basile, Chairman Michael F Rush, and members of the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs I am writing to inform you of my support for S.1750/H.3211, A Referendum on a Budget for All In the 2012 general election the voters in my district overwhelmingly supported the language and spirit of this resolution. My constituents and I share the belief that the benefits of our Federal budget should be shared equally by all, and that the responsibility to fund it should also be shared equally. As you know the Federal budget has an important effect on the people of the Commonwealth. Making sure vital programs like Medicare, Medicaid, social security, and other benefits are not being cut is something every legislator should care about. As is, protecting jobs that exist now and creating new ones, so that the hard working residents of Massachusetts can thrive. Closing loopholes and access to offshore tax havens, so that corporations and wealthy individuals will now pay what they’re supposed to, as well as ending the war in Afghanistan, helping redirect military spending and bringing the troops home safely, will let us invest in important fields like education, manufacturing, transportation and public services. This Budget for All resolution is supported by 91 cities and towns across Massachusetts. This legislation ensures that the decisions and opportunities will affect Massachusetts in a good and positive way. I look forward to being able to cast a vote in favor of this, should it come to the House floor. I hope that you and your fellow committee members give S.1750/H.3211 a favorable report Sincerely, Aaron Vega State Representative Fifth Hampden District
