Proudly presenting two ladies who need no introduction--Ritz Radio Theatre thespians Mellie Miles and Miss Peggy Parrish! Mellie Miles (Eustace, Mrs. Davis, Christmas Past, Snob) was destined for stardom from the day she was born. Seeking every opportunity to appear on stage, she naturally assumes every door leads into a theatre, which is why she is renowned for her ability to make an entrance. Having travelled far and wide across this great country, tens of people have enjoyed her performances. Now at age 83 she considers this appearance in the Ritz Radio Theatre as her steppingstone to Broadway. Not wanting to overshadow other cast members, she assumes her role with dignity and grace that only a “true star” is capable. Mellie expects to see her name in lights in her next stage role. Miss Peggy Parrish (Mrs. Hatch, Cousin Tilly, Eddy, Gentlewoman, Laundress) is one of the most respected members of the Brunswick business community and a woman of high style and distinctive tastes. She is happily married to pardoned felon, Gemologist, author, and notorious former bootlegger Bennie “Mitch” Mitchell Parrish III. Together they own Ned Cash Jewelers. This past year they traveled back to the homeland, Ireland (Loughrea, County Galway to be specific) to help their relations (relatives to you Americans) put back the pieces of their shattered lives caused by the war. Unbeknownst to Ms. Parrish, Bennie (or Mr. Mitch Parrish as he likes to be called) saw this as an opportunity to smuggle emeralds back to the United States. He was met with much disappointment when he discovered the only emerald was the isle itself. He did however discover the beautiful marble Connemara has to offer. Unfortunately, his illegal stash of the marble was discovered while visiting friends at Glin Castle. He fled, but was eventually caught in Cobh near Cork where he was put in prison (again). Ms. Parrish had to return to the States because, as they say, “the show must go on;” and she would never shirk her duties as sponsor or actor. She couldn’t bear the thought of disappointing her fans and those counting on her. She has been feverishly working with Mr. David Grey the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland for the speedy release of her beloved husband (and friend) on the grounds the he is an idiot. She hopes he will be able to return in time to attend their wonderful gift as sponsors of The Ritz Radio Theatre, and this show that you have the pleasure of being in the audience. For her sake (and the sanity of the cast and especially Director Ms. Georgia Power) we hope he returns in time to be part of the audience as well.
