Proverbs 18:21 says, The tongue has the power of life and death. And James 3:10 tells us that From the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. Our tongues are difficult to control. James compares the tongue to a small rudder on a ship, because although its very small - its able to control the entire vessel. It can act like a small flame which sets an entire forest on fire. And it can be like a deadly poison which not only affects the speaker, but also others who hear us. Our speech is indeed powerful. Scripture states, quite plainly that how one speaks will, most certainly, reveal what is in ones heart. Action Point: Some people have a spiritual language and a spiritual way of being, but in truth they are not spiritual at all. Stop for a moment beofre saying God willing or thank God and think about the words. Internatlize them before speaking. Saying the Blessing Sunday Night - May 4th: Before counting, stand and say the following blessing: Baruch ata Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kidshanu bemitzvosav ve-tzivanu al sefiras haomer. Blessed are You, God, King of the Universe, Who made us holy with His commandments, and commanded us on the counting of the Omer. After the blessing, one recites the appropriate day of the count: Today is 20 days, which is 2 weeks and 6 days of the Omer. It is typical to read Psalm 67 (which in Hebrew has 49 words) after reciting the count. Psalm 67: For the leader. With stringed instruments. A psalm. A song: God, be gracious to us, and bless us. May he make his face shine toward us, (Selah) so that your way may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. Let the peoples give thanks to you, God; let the peoples give thanks to you, all of them. Let the nations be glad and shout for joy, for you will judge the peoples fairly and guide the nations on earth. (Selah) Let the peoples give thanks to you, God; let the peoples give thanks to you, all of them. The earth has yielded its harvest; may God, our God, bless us. May God continue to bless us, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.
