Proverbs 22:8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail. Throughout the ministry of Jesus, the Sanhedrin tried at every turn to discredit Him. Jesus was preaching the only truth that these people ever needed to hear. He was true life, everything they were hoping for, and more! Yet, that didn’t stop constant questioning, challenges, and death threats. Nicodemus briefly spoke out against this kind of plotting, but he was overwhelmingly outnumbered. This is a prime example of how iniquity is sown. It’s sad on many differently levels, because the members of the Sanhedrin probably felt they were doing right and protecting the people from a false prophet. In their spiritual blindness, they were unable to recognize the Messiah, even though He was in their midst. Lord God, open the eyes of our hearts! Lead us to repentance and do not forsake us! Let us see clearly through the lens of Jesus!
