Proverbs 25:28 Like a city that is broken into and without walls - TopicsExpress

Proverbs 25:28 Like a city that is broken into and without walls is a man who has no control over his spirit. Revenge is so powerful because it is fueled by unresolved anger. Refusing to take revenge means that we must learn how to deal with our anger in a healthy way. I heard about a truck driver who dropped in at an all-night restaurant in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Three motorcyclists wearing leather jackets walked in and began antagonizing the truck driver, apparently looking for a fight. One grabbed the hamburger off his plate while another took a handful of his French fries and the third drank his coffee. The trucker calmly picked up his check and walked to cash register where he paid for his meal and then went out the door. The waitress watched him drive away. When she returned to the table, one of the cyclists said to her, Well, hes not much of a man, is he? She replied, I dont know about that but hes sure not much of a truck driver. He just ran over three motorcycles out in the parking lot. When we are mistreated or hurt, we want someone to pay. We want those who have hurt us to hurt in the same way. It only seems fair and right. The desire to get even is revenge and should never have a place in our hearts. Gods ways are higher than our ways and accomplish things beyond what we can see or even imagine.
