Proverbs 27:9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a mans friend by hearty counsel. Appreciate that friend that always gives sound wise advice. You know that it makes your heart glad. Enjoy that companion thats giving you godly words. Dont loathe their correction, for it is the gift of a loving God. Praise the Lord for someone who takes the time to observe your well-being. Let your heart rejoice at the truth, even when it stings. Remember, open rebuke is better than secret love. What better medicine than to be soothed by the words of one who is closer even than your own blood kin and who has been with you through thick and thin! Jesus had twelve disciples who were dear to Him. Three of them - Peter, James and John - were blessed with sweet revelation when He took them to the Mount of Transfiguration. How their hearts must have leaped when He led them into the Garden of Gethesemane, to watch and to pray with Him. Then theres that beloved disciple, John, who leaned on the bosom of Jesus, and who was privileged to receive hearty counsel from His Master, Rabbi, and Lord. If you dont have such a bosom friend seek the Lord Jesus Christ. Surely He will join you with one who suits your spiritual and natural personality, for the Lord knows how to yoke His people together. It may be a sibling, a spouse, or even someone whos being introduced into your life. Acknowledge God on this issue. Not all of your learning and understanding for the things in life are coming from the Bible or from God Himself. His ways are not your ways. Sometimes He leaves things alone so others can be blessed in sharing with us, and vice versa. Lets meditate and take note to this verse of scripture. The joy of our Father is increased when His children walk and talk together with sweet words and hearty counsel. May you be blessed by that one whose love is open, honest and faithful, in Jesus name.
