Proverbs 28:13 NKJV [13] He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. 1 John 1:9 NKJV [9] If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. James 5:16 NKJV [16] Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Proverbs 30:12 NKJV [12] There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, Yet is not washed from its filthiness. Yesterday we talked about how PRIDE can be stirred up in us without us even realizing it. Today, I think we need to continue that discussion because this is something we really need to focus on in order to avoid it. One thing we need to be willing to do as Christ followers is admit when we mess up. Covering up our sin is a sin in itself. Ill give you an example. My family wanted to watch a scary movie last night, The Purge. I knew better. I knew it was not something we should watch, but against my better judgement agreed. It was horrendous!!!!! From the killing to the language! What I should have done is got up and turned it off. I felt so sick with conviction after watching something so terrible! Not only did I watch it, but I allowed my kids to. I was just sick with myself after it was over! I had to repent. I told my kids how ashamed I was for sitting through it. You say....Mandy, come on! It was just a movie! Yes it was! Filled with UNGODLINESS! And when we are making an effort to fight off the enemy, we certainly dont need to give him ammunition! And thats exactly what that was! Im telling you all this because its important for me and for you to admit when we are wrong. I was wrong for allowing this, even paid money to fill our minds with garbage! So...heres the solution. I have asked God to forgive me, and I know He has. Im asking you to pray that I have strength to avoid this next time...and there will be a next time. You know...as professing Christians, we need to be able to admit when were wrong. Nobodys perfect, and so often nonbelievers are hindered by the idea that Christians claim to have it all together. We all fall short! Hiding that fact not not only hinders our soul, but could hinder others. Admit it. We are to pray for one another. Plus if we walk around and claim to be righteous all the time, whos gonna hear what we have to say?! So thats my thought for the day. Moral of the story....dont watch The Purge! 🙈 Admit when were wrong, and pray for forgiveness and strength to not do it again. God bless and happy Friday!!!!
