Proverbs 31: 26-31—“She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed: her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” The part I want to focus on is the response she gets from her family. Yes she takes care of them, yes she cleans her house, and yes she does all the other things that a mom and wife does. But look at their responses to her. That is what I want. I want my children to look at me and comment on how great a mom I was, how great a Godly woman I was. I want my husband to be so proud of me that he brings people over just to show me off to them. Now, be careful because we don’t want to get arrogant about it. But if we simply follow God’s commands, and do what we are supposed to, our family will automatically give us this response. My husband is proud of me yes, but I could do so much better. My children love me, but I could do so much better. My focus this week has been on my husband and children, and what I can do to better their lives. Jesus rewards us openly for stuff that we do in secret. So when you are stuck at home and feel like life is getting the better of you, take a step back. Read the Bible, see what God says. Then take a deep breath, and get back to work. Have a great day ladies (and gents).
