Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: - TopicsExpress

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. In the preface to his book, The Knowledge of the Holy, A. W. Tozer points out “the loss of the concept of majesty from the popular religious mind.” He further states: “With our loss of the sense of majesty has come the further loss of religious awe and consciousness of the divine Presence. We have lost our spirit of worship and our ability to withdraw inwardly to meet God in adoring silence. Modern Christianity is simply not producing the kind of Christian who can appreciate or experience the life in the Spirit. The words, ‘Be still, and know that I am God,’ means next to nothing to the self-confident, bustling worshipper…” Nathan Stone in his book, The Names of God, said this: “ ‘Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.’ But we will experience God in such fashion- we will glorify Him and enjoy Him- only in proportion as we know Him.” The Bible is the place to begin a quest to know God. If you ask, God will reveal Himself to you in its pages. Take what you learn and meditate on it. Prayer is of utmost importance. Just as in our relationships with of friends and family, we become more acquainted with even begin to emulate the behavior of those we spend the most time with.
