Providence Hospital, initially a 22-bed facility, opened in Beaver - TopicsExpress

Providence Hospital, initially a 22-bed facility, opened in Beaver Falls, October 13, 1909, located in the mansion of the former Reeves homestead. The hospital was operated by the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill, Greensburg, Pa. A three-story annex was built in 1912, and another annex was added in 1958 to expand the facility to 180 beds. A school of nursing was started and graduated its first class in 1915. In March 1967, the sisters withdrew from operations. In the late 1960s, Providence merged with hospitals in New Brighton and Rochester to form Beaver Valley Medical Center. After the hospital ceased operations many years later, the facility became Providence Care Center, an 180-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center.
