Provision for Shipyard too The master plan for the Vizhinjam - TopicsExpress

Provision for Shipyard too The master plan for the Vizhinjam international container transshipment terminal (ICTT) has left an option for establishing a shipyard at Vizhinjam. A shipyard/ship repair facility can be planned in the area earmarked for Phase-3 container development. In 2011, the Cochin Shipyard Ltd had submitted a report to the government saying that Vizhinjam has the ‘potential’ for a shipyard. It requires a minimum of 100 acres with 1.5 kilometres of waterfront area. However it was considered impractical and the shipyard proposal was put on the back burner. Here is the overall master plan of India’s deepest port and first world-class container transshipment port. The below images are the excerpts from the new master plan taken from the blog tvmrising.blogspot.in. Credits to Ajay Prasad.
