Provision of low income Housing should be a legitimate expectation - TopicsExpress

Provision of low income Housing should be a legitimate expectation of a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago. Several years ago I understand that Keith Rowley as Planning Minister blocked the construction of over 2000 low and middle income houses in Tobago funded by the Karamath Group of Companies. I heard it from source. Why is it that many times politicians get in the way of citizens in the private sector taking public interest initiatives. In 2010 I provided government with a plan to build a five hundred unit housing village at Mt Hope just next to the University Hospital. The project was to be privately financed and handed over to the HDC. I am told that one person, not the minister , said it was University land and that was the end of that. But today my helper is packed up in a cold and wet room with her four beautiful children ages 1-8 including mixed twins and I am trying my best to find out which good soul has a $1000 a month apartment in St Joseph area to offer her a tenancy. Oh what times we live in. I sometimes wonder how some people sleep. I do.
