Provo Police Arrest Robbery Suspect On Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 5:32 AM a white male in his 20’s entered the Provo 7-Eleven at 1801 South State Street carrying a golf club. The suspect walked to the cooler, grabbed a sandwich, two bags of chips and walked to the exit. As the suspect was leaving the store, the clerk asked him if he was going to pay for the items. The suspect walked toward the clerk, said “Do you want to test me?” and then used the golf club to smash a couple of displays next to the cash register. The suspect then left the store, got into his white Toyota and drove south toward Springville. After leaving Provo, the suspect caused problems in Springville which at one point included driving through a fence to avoid police. Provo Police then received a call of a suspicious white vehicle at an apartment complex at 974 West 600 South that had a fence attached to the front bumper. Police arrived and confirmed this was the robbery suspect’s vehicle and that it was ensnared with approximately 50’ of wire fencing. Using information from Springville’s incident and the parked vehicle, investigators identified 28 year old Springville resident Casey Kruitmoes as the robbery suspect. While investigators were attempting to locate Casey, at 7:42 AM Provo Police received a report of a trespass at the Union Pacific rail yard at 508 East 900 South. According to the caller, an intoxicated male in his 20’s had climbed onto a Union Pacific train and was refusing to leave. Officers arrived on scene and the suspect in the trespassing incident fled on foot. One officer eventually caught up to the suspect, who put on a pair of brass knuckles and turned to face the officer in a fighting stance. The officer drew his Taser and told the suspect, “You drop those and I’ll put this away.” The suspect complied and the officer placed him into custody. After arresting the suspect, officers identified him as Casey Kruitmoes. Casey was booked into the Utah County Jail for Aggravated Robbery, Criminal Mischief, Fail to Stop at Command of Officer, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a restricted person.
