Provoked by an erroneous report in an Oriya daily today I am - TopicsExpress

Provoked by an erroneous report in an Oriya daily today I am compelled to post a few line just for the information of our friends and friends of friends in the Face Book. 1. That I won the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency from Janata Dal in 1989 by more than one Lakh votes and that too about one lakh votes only from five segments of Bargarh district is ignored by the reporter who has written that piece. I just fail to understand how can a news paper reporter just can ignore facts which are on record. 2. In 1991 when I was defeated due to sympathy wave suddenly generated by the death of Rajiv Gandhi just two days before the election I and my party had an over all lead in five segments which is now under Bargarh district. 3. In 2004 Lok Sabha election when the candidate from the principal anti-congress party with its alliance partner contested as a sitting MP and that too a man from Bargarh he suffered over all defeat in five constituencies of Bargarh district. He won that time by a nrrow margin only due to his win at Rairakhol by more than 20,000 votes and that is why in next election he shifted to Rairakhol Assembly Constituency. 4. So the theory being sought to be poropagated that only candidates from Bargarh can win is basically wrong and totally flawed. 5.I started my activist career from Padampur during severe drought of 1966 and then at Bolangir and concentrated in area which is now Bargarh district due to two historic movements Chiroli movement and Save Gandhamardan movement or one can say anti-Balco movement which were led and established by me and our colleagues and the prominent among them are Swamy Sombesh(who was also jailed under DIR and myself put behind bar on detention under MISA for 19 months and a few days more. 6.About Kulta community it should be mentioned that Kulta community is basically a farmers community and traditionally vote for the anti-Congress candidates. But the question is why they have voted for Congress candidate in some elections including the last Lok Sabha election is due to patently wrong choice of candidates by the principal anti-Congress party. 7. This time(2014) the Kulta community is again in a dilemma as to whom to vote: To the person from their community who has singular failed to win their confidence or to a rejectable candidate who have been set up by the principal non-Congress Party as rejectable candidates are regularly being set up as a matter of conspiracy.
