Psa 119:162-I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. Great joy over finding the great treasure of the Word!. Finding the spoil of battle. As God opened his eyes he beheld wonders in his law; and each discovery of this kind was like finding a prize... Have you discovered the great treasure of the Word? John Gill adds-...At having it, which is a distinguishing blessing; all are not favoured with it; and is an inestimable treasure, a field in which a treasure lies; which those that find rejoice at...The doctrines of it are matter of great joy, particularly which concern the grace of God, the person of Christ, and peace, pardon, righteousness, and salvation by him; and each of its promises, which are exceeding great and precious; and, when opened and applied in a time of need, occasion great joy; such as is expressed at finding a great spoil, when much substance comes into the hands of the conqueror, as well as victory... Part of our benefits at being more than conquerors... (Rom. 8:37) is that we get to share the great bounty of Gods Word! Many have fought and died to give us a Bible. We hold it as a great treasure over which we have not fought. Let us humbly be thankful for it. Many of us have discovered it as a man who bought the field and it was there. Part of our Spiritual inheritance is this awesome Word, which is a great treasure from heaven that we enjoy on earth. We all know how the world guards its treasures with great vigor. Let us guard the Word by hiding it in our hearts (Psa. 119:11), but also share its wealth with others. Not like gold, it only increases in dearness as you share and give it away! What a treasure! What wealth in our hands! We too rejoice!
