Psa 119:165-Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing - TopicsExpress

Psa 119:165-Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. Loving Jesus and loving His Word brings peace. This certainly ties in to Isa 26:3-Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Also Paul said in Phil. 4:6-7-Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. What the world is looking for and cannot find is in Jesus and the Word. Jesus said of Himself in Joh 14:27-Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. What tremendous peace is found in Jesus, given by Jesus, and taught in His Word. Hear Albert Barnes-...They have great calmness of mind. They are not troubled and anxious. They believe and feel that all things are well-ordered by thee, and will be conducted to the best result. They, therefore, calmly leave all with thee. As a matter of fact, the friends of God have peace and calmness in their minds, even amidst the troubles, the disappointments, and the reverses of life. The love of God is the best - the only - way to secure permanent peace in the soul... The psalmist adds that nothing shall offend them. Does this mean they never get upset or angry? No, not at all. It means they do not get upset with God and give up on Him. Nothing can take this peace away that God gives. Nothing can cause them to stumble. Strongs Hebrew Dictionary renders offend as ...a stumblingblock, literally or figuratively (obstacle, enticement (specifically an idol), scruple): - caused to fall, offence...thing offered, ruin, stumbling-block... So the truth is if we are planted deeply in the Word, and love the Word, we shall have peace and shall have a bastion against any stumbling block the Devil throws at us. Now that sounds like a real deal to me! Barnes concludes-...The meaning here is, that they would not fall into sin; they would be kept safe; they would be preserved from the power of temptation... Thank you Jesus for your Word, your Peace, and your sustaining power to keep us from stumbling! Praise your Name!
