Psalm 138 is the prayer of one who realises many things that too often go unnoticed: that God has been faithful to his promises, that he has answered prayer and given strength, and that - despite his seeming absence from earthly affairs - he is attentive and involved in the lives of his creatures. From afar, the Lord defends the lowly and judges the proud. How does he see us? Lord, you see us as we are. Make us as you wish us to be. Today let us pause to reflect on the fact that God is watching over us with care.
