Psalm 23:1, “The LORD is my Shepherd, I have all that I need.” - TopicsExpress

Psalm 23:1, “The LORD is my Shepherd, I have all that I need.” (New Living Translation) Psalm 23 is probably the most familiar Psalm in all the Bible. I believe David wrote this Psalm later in life. He looked back and saw how God had cared for him. Psalm 23 focuses on what our Shepherd does for us everyday of our lives. He is sufficient for everyone of our needs. David knew this to be true. Whether he was on the run for his life or sitting on the throne of Israel David knew that with the Lord he had all that he needed. Our Shepherd also walks with us through the difficult experiences life throws at us. We need not fear because He is with us and that makes all the difference. Our Shepherd provides for us and protects us. We should rejoice as we consider the new position and possessions we have in Christ. In Christ we have everything we need and the future is truly something to look forward to. Our Shepherd also allows us to look back joyfully and look ahead expectantly. We may not understand why we are going through what we are going through but someday we will be able to look back and truly see that goodness and mercy followed us all the days of our life. When we look ahead we see goodness and mercy awaiting us as we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen!
